Zhang Qingyue forced a smile: "I'm fine, Mistress..."
Before he had spoken half his words, stars suddenly burst before his eyes and then everything went black—he had fainted.
Su Wan's brows knitted tightly. Tian Buhui, paying the Old Bloodsucker no heed, was also the first to look toward Zhang Qingyue.
A moment later, Su Wan finished her examination, reached into her robes and drew out a bottle, poured out a golden-yellow elixir, and gave it to Zhang Qingyue to swallow. Then she nodded to Tian Buhui and said softly: "He won't die." She paused, glanced at the Old Bloodsucker in the distance, and a look of indignation came into her eyes: "It's the Old Bloodsucker!"
A flash of anger crossed Tian Buhui's face. He turned his head, and his gaze met the Old Bloodsucker's.
"Old Bloodsucker, you are a figure who has made his name for several hundred years—to stoop to such vile, underhanded means against a junior, what do you take yourself for?"
"Bah!" the Old Bloodsucker snarled. "Your disciple's life is a life, and my disciple's life is not?"
Tian Buhui said coldly: "What has your damned disciple to do with any of this?"
The Old Bloodsucker's eyes narrowed. "He killed my disciple beneath the Ten Thousand Bats Ancient Cave on Kongsang Mountain. So I have come to kill him. What of it?"
"Good!" Tian Buhui suddenly shouted. "Well killed!"
The Old Bloodsucker was taken aback.
Tian Buhui gave a cold laugh and said: "I have never thought much of this disciple of mine, but seeing him today, he has more promise than I imagined—he even knows enough to rid the people of a scourge!"
The Old Bloodsucker was beside himself with fury. "Fine! Fine! You pack of curs—a hundred years ago you kicked a man when he was down and hunted me to the death, and today is just the day for me to try your Red Flame Sword again!"
Tian Buhui drew a deep breath. His right hand traced a line through the air, and in that instant the Red Flame immortal sword, as though hearing its master's mind, trembled faintly with the same excitement.
"A hundred years ago I let you escape by luck. Today, let me see for myself, Old Bloodsucker—you who dare to bully my disciple—just what level you have reached."
