Chapter 818 — You Have the Right to Complain

The Blossom Guardian

Among the employees of the Gu Group, those who actually knew Gu Mengyao in person were surely very few, for she had little fondness for appearing in public, and seldom used her status as the eldest daughter to throw her weight around in the businesses under the Gu Group's banner.

But the number of people who knew the name Gu Mengyao was far from small. Any employee who had worked at the Gu Group for more than half a year had almost certainly heard that name — it was a topic that inevitably came up when they chatted with colleagues.

Everyone knew that Gu Pengzhan had a beautiful daughter named Gu Mengyao, yet those who had actually laid eyes on her were exceedingly few. And the rarer she was, the more curious everyone became, and the deeper the name was seared into their memory.

Though the security guards ranked among the lower positions in the Gu Group, this one had gossiped about Gu Mengyao with his colleagues over tea and meals all the same, so the moment he saw the name on the membership card, he understood at once who she was.

She was, incredibly, the eldest daughter of the Group! No wonder every one of the people at her side carried a diamond membership card. Not so strange, after all — what sort of people would be friends with the eldest daughter? Certainly the rich and the noble; that they held Gu Group membership cards was only natural.

"Miss Gu, thank you for your cooperation. Please keep your membership card safe..." The guard, somewhat excited, handed the card back to Gu Mengyao. She made no fuss just then — plainly she did not wish to reveal her identity as the eldest daughter — and though the guard knew, he did not speak of it either.

Gu Mengyao nodded, smiled faintly, and put her membership card away.

Seeing her smile, the guard was thrilled beyond measure. The eldest daughter was so approachable — she had even smiled at him! This would become capital he could brag about to his colleagues over tea and meals. Still, he understood that her smile carried nothing personal in it. Even so, he was delighted, for in the minds of men like him, the eldest daughter was a being high above the clouds.

"Please come in, honored diamond-card member Miss Gu..." The guard raised the barrier and gestured them through, letting Wei Zhao drive the car into the parking lot.

"Impossible! How could they possibly have membership cards? They must be fake!" For a moment Gou Huli could not accept the fact, for in her eyes how could such nobodies have membership cards for the Pengzhan Mall? And to produce three at once — that defied all logic. So she shouted at the guard, "Hey, did you read them wrong? Or is this favoritism — you saw that girl was a flirt, she smiled at you, and you just waved her through, isn't that it? I'm going to report you!"

The guard frowned. You call the eldest daughter a flirt? You truly do not know death when you see it. But the guard had been strictly trained; though he was filled with loathing for this Gou Huli, he kept a smile on his face and explained, "Madam, you certainly have the right to file a complaint. But this parking lot is under round-the-clock surveillance. I would never do anything improper."

"Hmph!" Gou Huli glanced up at the camera above the parking lot, gave a cold snort, and, thoroughly displeased, returned to her car and drove off to find a parking space.

Things having come to this, however unwilling she was to believe it, she had no choice but to accept that the membership cards Wei Zhao and the others had shown were genuine. Absurd as it seemed, the fact was right before her eyes and left her no room for doubt.

So the master of these little brats treated them rather well, did he? He had even gotten each of them a membership card? By the look of it, their master had some influence in this town. Yet even thinking so, Gou Huli still did not care: when she thought of the vast power of her man's family, could these small-town folk be fiercer than her man? They were not even in the same weight class.

Gou Huli parked her car, and Wei Zhao parked his beside her.

"Don't think you're something just because you have membership cards. But don't celebrate too soon!" Gou Huli had to accept the fact that Wei Zhao and the others had membership cards. She did not care. So what if they had cards? The clothes were gone — no one could buy them now!

Hearing this, Wei Zhao could not help frowning. Gone? Was there something else behind it? Of course he would not ask Gou Huli. Now that they had arrived at the Pengzhan Tower, everything could wait until they were upstairs.

Gou Huli stepped into the elevator, and seeing Wei Zhao, Gu Mengyao, and Shen Yushu follow her in, she gave a cold laugh. "Well? Do you want to go up and make fools of yourselves, or turn back now? I'm telling you, once you go up, there will be no regrets."

"Oh, why would we regret it? We get to see a head-twisting performance. I've never in my life seen such a spectacular show!" At the thought of Gou Huli performing her head-twisting shortly, Shen Yushu was so delighted she was dancing with joy.

"Hmph! Since you refuse to know your place, don't blame me for being unkind. Then you can all wait to do hard labor!" Gou Huli found these people simply unreasonable — Shen Yushu especially. Why did the girl act like some little lunatic?

The elevator rose slowly and finally stopped at the floor where clothing was sold.

Gou Huli stepped out first, without pausing so much as an instant, striding toward the luxury VIP section. Since Wei Zhao and the others refused to know their place, she would simply make them give up hope.

"Wei Zhao, the way she looks, she seems very sure of herself?" Gu Mengyao said to Wei Zhao with some worry.

"I don't know. But it should be fine. If we can't buy it here, I'll find another way," Wei Zhao said with a shrug. Naturally he would never let Gu Mengyao go to Gou Huli's house to do hard labor.

"All right then!" Gu Mengyao could only nod. Taking Shen Yushu by the hand, she followed Wei Zhao quickly toward the luxury boutique section.

The eldest daughter and Xiao Shu did shop here too. In the eldest daughter's mind there was no great notion of brands, nor did she chase after luxury goods for their own sake; in her wardrobe, mid-range brands actually predominated. She was a rather free-spirited person.

Arriving at the luxury goods section, Gou Huli wasted no words. She called over a sales clerk, pointed at the clothes she was wearing, and said, "Do you still have this kind of outfit I'm wearing?"

The clerk examined the clothes on Gou Huli carefully, then said, "I'm sorry, madam, but this style has sold out."

When Gou Huli had bought it yesterday, she had in fact already made certain: only the last piece had remained, the one she bought, and no further stock would come in — luxury goods like these were released by season, and the same style was never issued again.
