Chapter 1258 — My Words Don't Carry Any Weight?

The Blossom Guardian

"Me, get lost?" Scar Bear looked as though he had just heard the joke of the century. He jabbed a finger at his own chest and said, "Here in Songshan City, there are people who dare tell me to get lost. They are not nonexistent. But it definitely isn't you, you little

brat!"

"My words don't carry any weight?" Wei Zhao asked.

"Oh, so you do have a little self-awareness?" Hearing this, Scar Bear burst out laughing.

"My words don't carry any weight? Then I won't use words." Wei Zhao nodded.

"You should have kept your mouth shut from the start! What do you think you are, yelling and shouting in front of me, Scar Bear? Tired of living?" Scar Bear sneered, then said with no small measure of smugness, "Kneel down right now, crawl through between my legs, and I'll let the whole thing slide..."

Before he could finish, Wei Zhao swung a palm across his face and landed it squarely on Scar Bear's cheek, caving in half of his face on the spot. His teeth, his jawbone, all of it, most likely shattered to pieces.

"Since words don't work, then I'll just use my hands!" With that, Wei Zhao slapped him again, caving in the other half of Scar Bear's face as well.

"W-what are you doing? Let Brother Bear go, now!" Scar Bear's underlings had been stunned stupid by what Wei Zhao just did. Now that they had come back to their senses, they pointed at Wei Zhao and started screaming.

But Wei Zhao did not so much as spare the underlings behind Scar Bear a glance. He kicked Scar Bear square in the crotch. Scar Bear let out a howl, and with the howl came the sound of something shattering. Clutching his groin with both hands, he collapsed to the ground, rolling in agony, half dead with pain.

"Couldn't you just have rolled away yourself? No, you had to make me help you roll!" Wei Zhao shook his head and kicked Scar Bear again. Another crisp crack, and Scar Bear's leg bone snapped under Wei Zhao's foot.

The reason Wei Zhao came down so hard on this Scar Bear was that Scar Bear had earlier harbored indecent designs on Ying Ziyu. Since she was Pangolin's sister, Wei Zhao regarded her as a sister of his own. When someone meant her harm, naturally he would pull the weed out by the roots.

Still, with so many eyes watching, Wei Zhao could hardly kill Scar Bear outright. Crippling him, though, was perfectly fine. Men who run in these circles would never have the nerve to go to the police, so long as they weren't dead.

Scar Bear's men were dumbstruck. They had seen ruthless characters before, but a ruthlessness like Wei Zhao's was unheard of. In the space of a few sentences, he had shattered both sides of Scar Bear's jaw, kicked him into a eunuch, and broken one of his legs.

Just what kind of person was this? The kid looked so mild and kindly, yet when he struck, he showed not the slightest mercy.

"W-who the hell are you? You actually dared to beat up Brother Bear? Do you even know who our Brother Bear runs with?" One of Scar Bear's men, machete in hand, demanded an answer from Wei Zhao. But his voice was fierce while his heart quailed. After all, Wei Zhao was too brutal, and even he was a little cowed.

"You want to stand up for him?" Wei Zhao asked, glancing at the underling who had spoken.

"I—" Facing Wei Zhao's cold gaze sweeping over him, the man's nerve failed at once. If he declared that he meant to avenge Scar Bear, would Wei Zhao not simply beat him into the same state as Scar Bear? So the man was no fool. After a moment's hesitation, he suddenly brandished his machete and shouted to the pack of underlings behind him, "Everybody, at him! Hack this little bastard to death! Avenge Brother Bear!

..."

But the very next moment, just as his words fell, there came a scream. The machete that had been in his own hand was now, somehow, in Wei Zhao's, and then it was buried in his thigh.

The pain rolled his eyes up white and he fainted dead away on the ground, even less able to take punishment than Scar Bear.

"Are the rest of you here to avenge these two as well?" Wei Zhao paid the man no more mind and raised his eyes to the remaining crowd.

"N-no, we're not—" The man closest to Wei Zhao was scared witless on the spot and flung his machete to the ground. He was terrified that if he answered half a beat too slow, two more holes would appear in his own leg.

This fellow before them was plainly a violence maniac, his hands impossibly fast. Before anyone could even see what was happening, two men were already lying on the ground. So the man had no thought of resisting Wei Zhao at all; afraid of a beating, he hurriedly threw down his weapon and surrendered.

One led to two, two led to three. Those who had been minded to have a go at Wei Zhao saw their companions surrender, and who would be foolish enough to keep picking a fight with him then?

"We don't mean to avenge anyone. We'll get lost right now—" The few nearest to Wei Zhao had already turned to leave.

"Wait. Take these two pieces of trash with you!" Wei Zhao said, pointing at Scar Bear and the underling on the ground.

Though the men were afraid and had no wish to turn back, who knew what would come of disobeying? Luckily, this one seemed to be reasonable. So long as they did as he said, nothing should come of it.

And so the few who had been leaving turned back, picked up Scar Bear and the underling, and slunk away in disgrace.

In truth, what stung these men now was nothing more than a loss of face. Whether or not they avenged Scar Bear and the underling with the slashed thigh had become a secondary matter. These were the lowest of the low, petty thugs. Scar Bear had only just risen to his position, and that by Brother Guang's appointment. Apart from the wounded underling beside Scar Bear, who was his own man, the rest had all been sent over by Brother Guang. So what they were thinking now was simply this: get back as fast as they could and report the whole thing to Brother Guang.

"You were looking for me?" Ying Ziyu studied Wei Zhao before her with a strange look. This fellow's methods were plainly savage, more so even than the punks around her. But the more it was so, the less she could fathom where he came from. Was he here to help, or did he want something?

To Ying Ziyu's eyes, Wei Zhao's arrival was far too much of a coincidence. Scar Bear's people had only just come to make trouble, and Wei Zhao had appeared and dealt with them. Yet Ying Ziyu had never set eyes on Wei Zhao, did not know him, had not even heard of such a figure.

"Ying Ziyu?" Even as she asked, Wei Zhao was sizing up the girl before him.

"You came looking for me, and you don't know who I am?" Ying Ziyu found it stranger still. From the look of him, Wei Zhao did not seem to know her either; he was only trying to make certain that she really was Ying Ziyu.

"I'm a friend of Ying Zhijia.

" Wei Zhao said.

"My brother?" Ying Ziyu was taken aback, then eyed Wei Zhao warily. "You're a friend of my brother? What are you looking for me for?"
