Chapter 1113 — Er Goudan Punches Master Li, Part II

The Blossom Guardian

The green-capped fighter could not help but frown. He could not make out Er Goudan's background — this lad had hurled a man clean off his feet in a single move, which proved his strength was nothing to sneer at. So the green-capped fighter did not dare press forward rashly; he only shook his head.

"Boy, are you looking for me?" Master Li had long since received word from the two heavies at the door that someone had forced his way into the fighting arena, seemingly come looking for him. As the arena's resident master, Master Li naturally had to come out and see what the matter was — and he arrived just in time to witness Er Goudan hurl the red-capped fighter through the air.

"Are you Master Li?" Er Goudan raised his head and saw Master Li standing in the second-floor gallery above the ring, on the upper level of the underground arena.

"Boy, what business have you here? If you've come looking for trouble, you've come to the wrong place! State your purpose, and I may yet spare your life!" Master Li let out a cold laugh, though the intent to kill had already taken root in his heart. A mere snotty-nosed brat, going on and on about beating him to death — Master Li was a petty man by nature, and how could he swallow that?

"I've come to beat you to death!" Er Goudan frowned and said with some impatience, "What are you doing up there? Come down at once and let me beat you to death!"

"Ha!" Master Li laughed instead of flying into a rage. Was this Er Goudan brain-damaged, to come out with such idiotic talk? Asking him to come down and be beaten to death by him — that was a cold joke if ever there was one. Still, Master Li asked, "I don't even know you, and yet you want to beat me to death?"

The audience below the ring roared with laughter in waves. A fight was all very satisfying, but an unexpected turn of events now and then was entertaining too — especially with Er Goudan repeating over and over that he was going to beat Master Li to death.

"Are you the Master Li who tried to snatch Yu Yuanyuan away?" Er Goudan frowned, but told himself he had better make sure of it — it would never do to beat the wrong man.

"Oh? So you've come to stand up for Yu Yuanyuan? You've got nerve, boy — daring to run wild before me, Iron Fist Li. You won't be leaving today!" A flicker of anger flashed through Master Li's eyes. Could this Er Goudan be Yu Yuanyuan's fancy man? Otherwise what did any of this have to do with him? At the thought, killing intent rose in Master Li's heart; he meant to keep Er Goudan here for good.

"You've guessed right — I have come to stand up for Yu Yuanyuan. Your grandpappy Goudan here punches steamrollers flat and kicks atom bombs to smithereens, and even if I do go boasting the name Iron Fist Goudan, that's one thing — but a filthy, stinking wretch like you, a man made of shit, calls himself Iron Fist Li! Bah!" Hearing the fellow spout such outrageous rot, Er Goudan spat contemptuously — and the great wad of phlegm flew straight up to the second-floor gallery and landed splat on Master Li's forehead.

"Waaaaaah, I'll kill you!" Master Li wiped his forehead with one hand and leaped down from the gallery, landing squarely on the ring. As a mid-stage external-style martial artist of the Profound rank, all of this was effortless for him. Yet the instant he found his footing on the ring, a hand came streaking at Er Goudan — seething with ninefold fury, he meant to finish Er Goudan right there under his fist.

Er Goudan neither dodged nor sidestepped. He raised his fist and met Master Li's incoming punch head-on!

"Crack!" "Bang!"

A sharp snap and a dull thud — and Master Li's body went flying backwards off the ring, one arm already bent at an unnatural angle. Obviously the earlier "crack" had been the sound of that arm breaking.

Through the air flashed a sword of blood, sprayed from Master Li's mouth as he flew; he vomited blood even as he sailed, and with a "bang" he struck the ground heavily, red and white spilling every which way across the floor. Then all was still — he was plainly done for.

"Ahhh!" A wave of shrieks instantly rose from the spectators. In this underground arena a man dying was nothing strange; but beating someone flying through the air, vomiting blood on the way — that had never happened before! This was the stuff you only ever saw in the movies!

And so the stands erupted in cheers once more.

Of course, nobody present knew who Master Li really was. No one knew he was the man who had taken down Red Dragon; they still thought he was nothing more than a fighter of the lowest rank.

Seeing that Master Li was already beaten to death, Er Goudan did not linger. Killing a man might be commonplace in this underground arena, but Er Goudan feared the house might take the desperate step of calling the police. So before anyone could even react, he hopped down from the ring and shot out of the underground arena in a puff of smoke, gone.

But the moment he came through the door of the arena, a taxi happened to stop a short way off — and out of it stepped Yu Ren and his daughter Yu Yuanyuan.

The instant they got out, they spotted Er Goudan running for the exit and hurried over to meet him. Yu Yuanyuan got there first: "How did it go? Did you see Master Li?"

"Run — I've already beaten him to death!" Er Goudan said in a low voice.

"What? Beaten to death?" Yu Yuanyuan's eyes went wide as she stared at Er Goudan in disbelief.

"Beaten to death!" Er Goudan nodded.

"The taxi..." Yu Yuanyuan suddenly remembered — she had already paid for the taxi that brought them and had not asked it to wait. She turned her head, and sure enough, the taxi was long gone.

Er Goudan scratched his scalp, then reached out both arms, scooped up Yu Yuanyuan and Yu Ren one on each side, and went sprinting off at tremendous speed.

Yu Yuanyuan nearly jumped out of her skin. She had never imagined Er Goudan could run this fast while carrying two people — was he even human?

Yu Ren was frightened witless too; he had never in his life imagined a man could run so fast.

Er Goudan ran a good kilometer before he stopped. The weight of Yu Yuanyuan and Yu Ren was nothing to him — he had carried wild boars of several hundred jin on his back and still gone striding along as if flying.

"How can you run so fast? Are you even human?" Set down on the ground, Yu Yuanyuan was badly shaken. Clutching her chest, she pointed at Er Goudan, her face all horror.

"I'm used to running in the mountains," Er Goudan said. "There — I've beaten that fellow to death, so he won't be bothering you again!"

"You really killed him? Aren't you afraid of a lawsuit?" Yu Yuanyuan had never imagined Er Goudan would actually go and beat a man to death. She had not quite believed it at first, but seeing the speed at which he went striding along, she half believed it — this man was no ordinary person either.

"Didn't you say people dying in the underground arena is routine? Would they still call the police?" Even Er Goudan jumped. "Then will the police come and arrest me?"

"I... I don't know, sigh!" Yu Yuanyuan sighed. Although Er Goudan had not been hurt, she had dragged him into this affair in the end. Killing a man might be everyday bread and butter in the underground arena, and those people might not necessarily call the police, but Yu Yuanyuan feared that Er Goudan had made trouble, and the other side would come looking for revenge.
