Chapter 1455 — Wrong Person: Lately Wu Chengtian had stopped pestering Sun Jingyan. At first Sun Jingyan was rather pleased, but as the days wore on she discovered that she had heard nothing of Wei Zhao for a very long time.

The Blossom Guardian

It was not that Sun Jingyan liked Wei Zhao all that much; it was simply that she found him a strange and singular sort of person, that time spent in his company was always interesting, and that as a friend he was really rather good.

But now that Wu Chengtian no longer came to pester her, Sun Jingyan had no excuse to go looking for Wei Zhao either, and only then did she suddenly realize how utterly dull life really was!

Before Wu Chengtian started pestering her, before she had ever met Wei Zhao, she had not felt anything was amiss; busy with company affairs from morning to night, her life had been quite full.

But now, whenever she thought of the things she had done together with Wei Zhao, she found them thrilling and stirring beyond words!

Sun Jingyan was a woman of many facets. On the surface she appeared generous and dignified, the very image of a formidable businesswoman, yet beneath it all there lurked something rebellious and a little mad. Stealing the video files with Wei Zhao, conning Wu Chengtian together with Wei Zhao, Sun Jingyan thought that feeling was simply exhilarating!

Of course, everyone else knew that Wu Chengtian had become Wei Zhao's and Ergoudan's underling, but Sun Jingyan did not. Though she was of the Sun family, she had none of those information channels; she had fallen out with her family and rarely kept in touch with them at all, and had only seen her younger brother Sun Yikai once not long ago.

A ringtone sounded. Thinking it was a colleague from the company, Sun Jingyan picked up the phone without a second thought. "Hello, this is Sun Jingyan."

"Jingyi, it's me, the Great Robber." Wei Zhao was about to set out in search of the Fire Spirit Sacred Fruit, and his mood had turned rather good. Remembering the first time Sun Jingyan had called him, he could not resist making a joke.

"The Great Robber? You've got the wrong person... I don't know any Great Robber." Sun Jingyan was taken aback; her first instinct was that the caller had dialed a wrong number. But wait, he had called her "Jingyi," so he must know her... and the voice was familiar, too. A moment later, she caught on. "Wei Zhao?"

"It's me." Wei Zhao laughed. "It's been a long time. How have you been?"

"All right, I suppose... same as ever, running around busy all day..." For some reason, hearing Wei Zhao's voice made Sun Jingyan inordinately happy. "And you? How have you been lately? Have you forgotten all about your half-girlfriend here? You never even come to take me out anymore."

"Ha..." Wei Zhao chuckled. "But that was all pretend, wasn't it? How are we supposed to go on a date? Me getting handsy with you, that I could manage."

"You're impossible!" Sun Jingyan's face flushed. "How is that the only thing on your mind? You already have two girlfriends, so what's one more, me?"

"Yes... I have girlfriends..." Wei Zhao thought back to the time he and Feng Xiaoxiao and Sun Jingyan had teamed up to torment Wu Chengtian, and a wave of nostalgia came over him. "But Xiaoxiao is... unconscious now."

"Ah! She's in a coma? What happened?" Sun Jingyan was shocked. She had a good impression of that girl Feng Xiaoxiao; the two of them had made a rather well-coordinated team in giving Wu Chengtian a hard time, and hearing such news now, how could she not worry?

"Xiaoxiao, she..." Wei Zhao told Sun Jingyan all about Feng Xiaoxiao, including how the two of them had met and how they had come to be together. This was no secret; there was no harm in telling her.

"What! So much has happened between you and Xiaoxiao?" Sun Jingyan was deeply shaken by Wei Zhao's words. She would never have imagined that a girl who seemed so cheerful and so sharp-witted was already beyond cure, with one foot through the gates of death! Yet back then, she had shown not the slightest sign of it.

"Mm... so this trip away is to find medicine for her." Wei Zhao said, "I may be gone for some time. If you run into any trouble, just go to Wu Chengtian."

"???" Sun Jingyan was utterly baffled by his words. "Go to Wu Chengtian? I can't get away from him fast enough, so why would I go to him of my own accord? You're not joking, are you?"

"Hasn't he stopped bothering you lately? I've taken him on as my underling. He says you're his sister-in-law, so naturally he won't pester you anymore." Wei Zhao said with a smile.

"What? Wu Chengtian became your underling?" Sun Jingyan could make no sense of it at all. How could a thing as proud and arrogant as Wu Chengtian possibly become Wei Zhao's underling? True, Wei Zhao was formidable and uncanny at times, but that hardly meant Wu Chengtian would bow to him as his leader.

"Do you want to say a couple of words to him? He's right here beside me." Wei Zhao asked when he heard her astonishment.

"Then... put him on?" Sun Jingyan still half doubted whether any of this was real. How was Wei Zhao capable of such things? Making the heir of the Wu Aristocratic Family his underling was almost too fantastic to believe.

"Your phone." Wei Zhao handed it to Wu Chengtian, who stood to one side, eager to jump in.

"Sister-in-law Jingyi, it's me. What I did before, pestering you—it was truly out of line. I'm sorry!" Wu Chengtian had long wanted to apologize to Sun Jingyan but had never had the chance. And now, especially, having leapt straight from his injuries to becoming an early Profound Tier expert, he worshipped Wei Zhao beyond measure. In his eyes, his leader Wei Zhao was a supreme existence without equal, so toward Wei Zhao's woman he dared show not the slightest disrespect.

"Wu Chengtian, is something wrong with you?" That "sister-in-law Jingyi" made Sun Jingyan go red in the face, and she spat, "Don't call me that!"

"Nothing's wrong with me... ah, no, I mean, something is wrong with me, I'm in a very bad way right now, I got beaten up and I'm bedridden..." Wu Chengtian suddenly remembered that Wei Zhao had ordered him to keep it secret, that he must not announce the matter of his recovery, so he hastily changed his tune.

"What on earth are you talking about?" Sun Jingyan could make neither head nor tail of it.

"All right, let me talk." Wei Zhao took back the phone with a sigh and said to Sun Jingyan, "Don't spread the news about Wu Chengtian recovering from his injuries. He's a master of both inner and outer cultivation at the Profound Tier now. After I leave, if you run into trouble, you can get in touch with him for help!"

"Recovering from injuries? When was he injured?" Sun Jingyan was startled. "He's a master of both inner and outer cultivation at the Profound Tier? Really?"

Sun Jingyan pinched her own leg. Surely she wasn't dreaming this phone call? Why did everything feel so unreal?

"You didn't know?" Wei Zhao was surprised. By rights Sun Jingyan was of the Sun family, and word of Wu Chengtian's injury had spread through the Aristocratic Families. "You haven't heard anything in the Sun family?"
